Sentry
Error and performance monitoring that shows the stack trace, the release and the user behind each crash.
- Price
- Team from $26/month billed yearly ($29 monthly)
- Free plan
- Yes
- Setup
- A little code
- Up and running
- About 30 minutes with the wizard; an extra hour or two to get source maps right in the deploy.
What Sentry is for
When your app crashes for a customer, Sentry captures the error with the exact line of code, the release that introduced it and the user who hit it, then alerts you. It can also show slow pages and replay what the user did right before the crash. You stop learning about bugs from WhatsApp complaints.
How it plugs into your product
- 1Create a free account and a project for each part of the app, like the front end and the API.
- 2Run the setup wizard or install the SDK for your framework and paste the project's DSN key.
- 3Upload source maps on each deploy so errors point to your real code, not the minified file.
- 4Set alert rules to email or Slack, and turn on spike protection in each project's settings.
Does it fit your idea?
It fits if
- Your SaaS is live with paying customers and a broken checkout costs real money every hour.
- You ship code generated by AI often and need to know which deploy broke what.
- You're a solo founder and 5,000 errors a month on the free plan covers your app.
Look elsewhere if
- You mainly need to know when the site is down and get a phone call: Better Stack does uptime and on-call.
- You want errors fixed inside your Claude Code or Codex session rather than read in another dashboard: use Faundr.
- You want session replay on most visits; every plan includes only 50 replays a month before paying extra.

Once your quota and pay-as-you-go budget run out, new errors are dropped and monitoring stops until the next billing cycle.

What it costs in practice
A SaaS on Team ($29/month, 50K errors) that has a bad month with 80K errors pays 30K × $0.0003625 ≈ $11 extra, if a pay-as-you-go budget is set. Adding 2,000 replays costs about 1,950 × $0.00375 ≈ $7. Total around $47/month. Rough estimate.
