What Plausible is for

Plausible counts visits to your site: how many people came, from where, which pages they read and how many converted. Everything fits on one page, and it doesn't use cookies or collect personal data, so you don't need a cookie banner. It measures the site, not what each logged-in user does inside your app.

How it plugs into your product

  1. 1Start the 30-day trial with no card and add your domain.
  2. 2Paste one script line in your site's head; visits show up within minutes.
  3. 3Create goals for sign-up or purchase, using a page URL or a custom event.
  4. 4Before the trial ends, pick the plan by your total monthly pageviews plus custom events.

Does it fit your idea?

It fits if

  • You have a landing page or waitlist and want to see visits and sign-ups without a cookie banner.
  • Your SaaS marketing site gets under 10K pageviews a month and $9 fits the budget.
  • You sell to privacy-minded customers or in Europe and don't want to explain Google tracking.

Look elsewhere if

  • You need per-user funnels and retention inside a logged-in app: use PostHog or Mixpanel.
  • You want zero monthly cost and won't self-host: Google Analytics is free.
  • You need session replay to watch users get stuck; Plausible doesn't record sessions.

What people only find out after building

Read this before you build on it. Each item links to the official page that says so.

  • Custom events count toward your monthly limit just like pageviews, so tracking every click can push you into a higher tier.

  • Over your tier two months in a row, you're asked to upgrade; if you don't within a week, your dashboards are locked until usage drops or you pay more.

  • Strict ad blockers still block the script: Plausible itself expects 5% to 25% of visitors to go uncounted unless you set up a proxy.

  • Funnels and ecommerce revenue are only on Business; Starter covers 1 site and Growth up to 3.

What it costs in practice

A SaaS site with 7K pageviews and 2K custom events a month stays in the 10K tier: Starter at $9/month, or about $90/year with 2 months free on yearly billing. Two sites push you to Growth at $14/month. Rough estimate.
