What Cal.com is for
Cal.com gives you a booking page that checks your calendar and lets people pick a free slot, with no back-and-forth messages. It can charge at booking through Stripe or PayPal, and you can embed it on your site or build booking into your own product through its API. Useful both for your own sales calls and for a SaaS where scheduling is part of what you sell.
How it plugs into your product
- 1Create a free account on cal.com and connect your Google or Outlook calendar.
- 2Set up event types with duration, availability and, if you charge, a Stripe or PayPal account.
- 3Share the link or paste the embed code on your site.
- 4To put booking inside your product, use the API and webhooks; for a team, upgrade to Teams.
Does it fit your idea?
It fits if
- You're a solo consultant or coach who needs paid sessions with Stripe, on the free plan.
- You're building a SaaS for clinics or tutors and want booking inside your product through an API.
- You need several event types, like a free 15-minute intro and a paid hour, without paying per type.
Look elsewhere if
- You planned to self-host Cal.com for free in production: the code went closed source in April 2026.
- You need clients to pay at booking through something other than Stripe or PayPal, like a bank transfer; those are the only payment options.
- Your sales team just wants a familiar link and won't touch settings: Calendly is what leads already know.
What people only find out after building
Read this before you build on it. Each item links to the official page that says so.
Cal.com moved its code to a private repository in April 2026. The open fork, Cal.diy, is meant for personal, non-production use and drops Teams, Workflows and Routing Forms.

What it costs in practice
A solo founder with a booking link and paid sessions: $0/month, plus Stripe fees per payment. A 3-person sales team on Teams: 3 × $12 = $36/month on yearly billing ($432/year). Rough estimate.
