What Efí is for
Efí is a Brazilian digital bank with payment APIs: your app uses it to create Pix charges, boletos, carnês and card payments, and to bill subscriptions through Pix Automático. Issuing a boleto is free; you only pay when it's paid. The money lands in your Efí account.
How it plugs into your product
- 1Open an Efí Empresas account with your CNPJ (Pix Automático requires the business account).
- 2In the dashboard, create an application, choose its scopes and generate the .p12 certificate for sandbox and production.
- 3On your server, call the Pix or boleto API with the credentials and the certificate on every request.
- 4Register a webhook so your app learns when each Pix or boleto is paid.
Does it fit your idea?
It fits if
- Your SaaS bills a mid-priced plan (R$300 and up) and wants Pix Automático to renew it each month.
- You send lots of boletos or carnês and many go unpaid, since issuing and cancelling are free.
- You want the payments account and the company's bank account to be the same place.
Look elsewhere if
- Your plan is cheap (under R$50): Pix Automático at R$3.50 or boleto at R$3.45 eats 7% of each payment.
- Most revenue is on card and you need it quickly.
- Nobody on the team can deal with certificates and server setup.
What people only find out after building
Read this before you build on it. Each item links to the official page that says so.
Pix Automático costs a flat R$3.50 per Pix, while a regular Pix is 1.19%. On a R$49 plan that's R$3.50 instead of about R$0.58.

What it costs in practice
A SaaS with 200 subscribers at R$49: by Pix Automático, 200 × R$3.50 = R$700 a month (about 7% of revenue); by a regular API Pix the customer pays each month, 1.19% ≈ R$117; by card, 3.49% ≈ R$342 (estimate).
